January

Picture of January

January is a 12 year old American Paint mare and is available for lessons but will only be used sparingly until she gets into shape.

The American Paint Horse shares a common ancestry with the American Quarter Horse and has the same "stock horse" body type desired in Quarter Horses: a muscular animal that is heavy but not too tall, with a low center of gravity for rapid maneuverability, and powerful hindquarters suitable for rapid acceleration and extreme sprinting speed.

The American Paint Horse breed consists of horses meeting both bloodline and color requirements. Read more about the American Paint Horse on Wikipedia.

Lucky (Tin Corner’s Lucky Blue)

Picture of Lucky

Lucky is a nine year old gelding. He is believed to be a Thoroughbred/American Paint/Tennessee Walker cross. Lucky is willing to try whatever we ask of him. He has had some experience in the dressage ring and seems to enjoy showing off.

The Thoroughbred is a horse breed developed in 18th century England when English mares were bred with imported Arabian stallions to create a distance racer. Read more about the Thoroughbred on Wikipedia.

The Tennessee Walker originated from the Narragansett Pacer and the Canadian Pacer. In the early 1800s, these two breeds were blended by Tennessee breeders who were looking for a horse that could handle the mountainous terrain of the area. Breeders later added Confederate Pacer, Union Trotter, Thoroughbred, Standardbred, Morgan, and American Saddlebred blood to refine and add stamina to their gaited horse. Patico

Patico is a 7 year old American Paint gelding. He is not available for lessons but will be available for sale.

When the American Quarter Horse Association emerged in 1940 to preserve horses of the "stock" type, it excluded those with paint coat patterns. Undeterred, fans of colorful stock horses formed a variety of organizations to preserve and promote these handsome creatures. In 1965 some of these groups merged to form the American Paint Horse Association. Today, the American Paint Horse is one of America's most popular breeds.

“She’s the cutest little pony ever!” - Jenn

According to the Bedouins, God created the Arabian horse from the South Wind, saying "I call you Horse; I make you Arabian and I give you the chestnut color of the ant; I have hung happiness from the forelock which hangs between your eyes; you shall be the Lord of the other animals. Men shall follow you wherever you go; you shall be as good for flight as for pursuit; riches shall be on your back and fortune shall come through your meditation." Tamiesha is a 20 year old Arabian mare. She is very sweet and gentle and takes very good care of our smallest riders. Don’t let her sweetness fool you, she has a lot of get up go and can be fun for more experienced riders as well.

There are many different types of Arabian, ranging from Polish, Spanish, Crabbet, Russian to Egyptian and Domestic (usually a mix of bloodlines). Polish and Crabbet are known for the substance and athleticism, Spanish for their beauty and athleticism, Russian for their height and substance, Egyptian for their ultimate Arabian type, and Domestic for their combination of all the wonderful traits of each bloodline.
